Integrative Arts & Wellness
As a lifelong artist and current PhD student in Mind-Body Medicine, my work resides in the space of mindful arts and holistic wellness practices as conduits for restoring physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual components of health.
The human body is inherently equipped with all the tools for healing itself. However, many people are not often aware of or given the opportunity to seek out interventions other than through conventional medical treatments.
Mindfulness practices and breath work are at the core of my practice and research, using various arts modalities as entry points to begin healing the whole self.
Research supports the claim that engagement with the arts has the ability to improve the neuroplasticity in the brain (Magsamen & Ross 2023). This is critical in healing from trauma, improving memory and concentration, adapting to our environment, and developing new skills. Studies have also shown that engaging with the arts is positively associated with psychological well-being and is critical to the process of integrating an individual into the society to which they belong (Jin and Ye 2022).
My philosophy is that every individual should have the agency to advocate for your own health and well-being. By shifting focus to the individual, acknowledging your beliefs, values, and perspective, you can have a voice in your own treatment plans and begin building a trusted relationship with your doctors.
My objective is to take a trauma-informed and recovery-focused approach to educate and empower individuals through mind-body practices and mindful arts modalities to optimize whole body healing and overall wellness. Thus, by learning the foundational knowledge of mind-body interventions and self-care practices, you can feel empowered to advocate for the type of whole body care you deserve.
By engaging in integrative arts & wellness practices, you may experience a positive impact on the physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual components of your overall health, to include:
Mindfulness-Based Practices
These are some of the tools I used to educate, empower, and begin the healing process. You can schedule individual or group sessions for any of these practices. If you are interested in training to become a practitioner of any of these modalities, please inquire via email.
